to: you, from: the laudromat

i am typing this from the laundromat.

it is a surprisingly peaceful setting.

well, not literally peaceful.

the guy next to me is washing sneakers and the washing machine is making gunshot noises.

i'm actually not convinced that there isn't a gunfight happening inside of the machine.

also - there is soap pouring out of said washing machine all over the floor of the laundromat.

he just said…

crossing over into november

twilight zone's been on my brain lately. i spent a whole lot of time looking at rod serling's face (up close, and for many hours at a time) for a tv guide cover illustration project.

i came across the work of raquel aparicio. her style is unique and fantastic. she uses mostly flat colors, but in a way that still captures a lot of detail.

i found these pieces, from her first illustra…

We Need To Talk About All Of It: diana köhne, some greeting cards, jake gyllenhaal, and kevin.

i stumbled across the work of illustrator and graphic designer Diana Köhne. Like myself, Köhne studied communication design.

(if you're unfamiliar with what communication design is, wikipedia explains it a lot better than I would.)

his stuff is just so captivating! the color, the loose line work, everything. amazing.

if you wanna check out more of his stuff, head on over to …

i'll be honest, i'm here because i'm avoiding all the actual stuff i need to do. but i guess if you're here, you're probably also evading a Real Life Obligation™.

lately i've been pretty unexplainably passionate about Bibendum, commonly referred to by his street name, The Michelin Man.

specifically vintage Michelin ads. there's something undeniably likable about them …

sodium vapor & woodcut relief prints

"Art is (or should be) an authentic experience, which brings you closer to understanding yourself in relation to your surroundings."   -Bryan Nash Gill

i stumbled across the amazing work of the late bryan nash gill on the interweb and i'm pretty much obsessed. so obsessed that i've dedicated a pinterest board to him already.

i'm particularly into his woodcut relief prints, bu…

playin' around

i've been super inspired by an artist by the name of David Fullarton lately. his stuff is hilarious and amazing. he does collage-like illustrations, using a variety of different papers and colors.

appropriately labeled as "pictures with words on them", Fullarton often includes seemingly irrelevant and ridiculously funny excerpts next to his realistic, detailed drawings.

he uses a l…
